The major in Political Science requires the completion of 36 hours of political science, excluding P SC 1113, American Federal Government, which is required of all students at the University and does not confer major credit. The 36 hours must include:

1) P SC 2013 Intro to Political Analysis

2) Four courses chosen from at least four of the six fields in political science:
     Group I: American Politics
     Group II: Comparative Politics
     Group III: International Relations
     Group IV: Public Administration
     Group V: Public Policy
     Group VI: Political Theory

4) PSC 4093 Capstone Seminar in Political Science(The capstone course must be completed with a grade of C or better.)

2) PSC 4093 Capstone Seminar in Political Science (The capstone course must be completed with a grade of C or better.)

3) Students must successfully complete 15 hours (five courses) of courses in campaigns and voter behavior. The following specific requirements must be met:

   Group I: P SC 3483, Campaign Management

   Group II: P SC 3433, Voters and Campaigns

   Group III (three hours): P SC 3413, P SC 3423, P SC 3443, Or P SC 3473

   Group IV (six hours): Any of the courses listed above that are not taken to satisfy requirements,
   plus P SC 3910, P SC/COMM 4323, P SC 4420, COMM 3003, COMM 4253, COMM 4423,
   or COMM 4643

Public & Nonprofit Administration Check Sheet

The Public & Nonprofit Administration major for undergraduates is an interdisciplinary program leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree. It is designed to provide graduates of the program with the necessary knowledge and skills for planning, implementing, and evaluating public programs. The Public & Nonprofit Administration program prepares the student for a career in modern public management.


The major in Public & Nonprofit Administration consists of thirty-nine hours of major credit, including thirty-three hours in political science from the approved course list and six hours from upper-division economics, management, accounting, or statistics. Economics 1113, Principles of Macro-Economics and Economics 1123, Principles of Micro-Economics must also be completed. These courses do not confer major credit.
